Cornbread, a pioneering and unique restaurant concept developed by Adenah and her co-founder Zadie Smith, represents her first independent foray into the fast-casual dining space. Cornbread offers traditional American soul food cuisine using farm-to-table ingredients free of hormones and steroids. They source meat, fish, and produce from over 120 small-production, family-owned businesses throughout the New Jersey and Pennsylvania region, providing a true “farm to soul” experience. The first location opened in Maplewood in the fall of 2017. The second location recently opened in downtown Newark at 915 Broad Street, an 84-unit residential and commercial building that Adenah co-developed.
